Seize this all-day opportunity to touch base with Mother Nature while soaking up splendid views, getting some exercise and enjoying the bracing mountain air. The outing begins with a coach ride from Stavangerfs lovely harbour through the bustling city ? look out for views of the striking Norwegian Petroleum Museum building ? towards the start of the hiking trail, with a ferry crossing included in the journey. As you travel, enjoy the glorious scenery; watch out for sightings of remotely located wooden houses and rest up ready for the walk ahead. After meeting your expert guide at the hiking trail, you will get to spend about 2 hours trekking through a pristine lake-and-mountain landscape with superb vistas to savour at every turn. Your hard work will be more than rewarded on reaching your final destination: the plateau known as Pulpit Rock, which towers over Lysefjorden at a height of about 600 metres/1,980 ft.. The panoramic view afforded at this spot is simply astounding, and time will be yours take plenty of photos of sheer mountain faces and gushing waterfalls. The return trip to the ship ends the tour. Please note: guests are recommended to wear sturdy walking boots or shoes. The total duration of the hike is 4.5 hours on a narrow and quite steep path which may result slippery when raining. This tour is subject to weather conditions. As the mountain plateau at Pulpit Rock is unsecured, guests are requested to move with caution, stay away from the edge and follow the guidefs instructions at all times. This tour is unsuitable for guests with mobility problems or suffering with a heart condition or vertigo. Guests must be at least 14 years of age to take part.

Stavanger, Norway's fourth largest city, is a charming blend of antiquity and modernity. Towards the end of the 18th century Stavanger became a leading commercial and industrial town; the herring fisheries were a key commercial activity and canning factories flourished, as did shipbuilding. Today oil-related activities have grown in importance both in and around Stavanger. Our excursion begins with a drive along the Dirdal River to Byrkjedals-tunet, a former 1920s cheese factory which today houses a restaurant, a candle maker’s workshop and shops selling souvenirs and traditional handicrafts. Refreshments will be served with time afterwards to browse the area. Continue by bus to the nearby Gloppedalsuren, Norway's largest field of boulders - some as big as houses. We will drive through the farming area of Jaeren and past the beaches at Sola before arriving at Stavanger for a short city sightseeing tour before returning to Stavanger pier. Please note: guests using a wheelchair are advised that they must be accompanied by a paying helper to provide assistance with getting on and off the coach and that wheelchairs must be collapsible/foldable since the coach has neither a ramp nor a lift. Guests using a wheelchair who would like to participate in this tour are requested to contact the Shore Excursions’ Desk promptly once they are on board so that arrangements can be made.

Spread out in the waters off the northern Norwegian coastline near the town of Stavanger lies a group of larger and smaller islands that is simply referred to as the Stavanger Archipelago. While many of the islands are only sparsely inhabited by humans, they are home to abundant wildlife and boast spectacular scenery. There is no better way to enjoy views of the rugged coastlines and dramatic landscapes of both Norway and these islands than from the comfort of a modern boat, cruising in the direction of Lysefjord and the incredible cliff-top vantage point known as Pulpit Rock. When you see the way it towers over the fjord, you will understand how it got its name. The rock is considered to be one of Norway's natural wonders ? and the very best way to admire its impressive proportions is from the fjord in a boat. Please note: guests using a wheelchair are advised that they must be accompanied by a paying helper to provide assistance with getting on and off the boat and that wheelchairs must be collapsible/foldable since boats have neither a ramp nor a lift.
